I made it here! I spent about 24 hours in the airport, the night in Douala, and 8 hours on a bendy and pot holish road. My sea sick pills did nothing for me on the road. My initial impression was that Cameroon looks a lot like the Dominican Republic. The architecture, the palm trees, the driving (there are no 'lanes' just people weaving in and out of each other). The people of Cameroon are beautiful. They are kind and very welcoming. As I ate my supper by myself in the dining hall, the kitchen staff were singing in harmony hymn songs. So pretty. I am trying to differentiate French, Pigeon English and other village languages. Pigeon English is kinda like trying to understand Spanish, there will be a period of time where I have no comprehension of what they're saying and then a whole statement that is the same in proper English.
You can never shake enough hands in Cameroon. I was confused at first when people came up to me and said "you're welcome". I asked my Cameroonian driver what that meant and he said it just meant that I am welcome to Cameroon. Makes sense now that I know the context they meant it. I also asked him if there were any wild animals around, like monkeys. He laughed at me and said that I would have to go to the zoo to see any animals like that.
Mbingo is in a valley with rolling green hills and waterfalls around it. The picture above is my view from inside and right outside my room. It's a good thing I took thise when I did because a huge downpoor came right after it.
All for now I'm off to bed and tomorrow I orientate and begin work!

That looks beautiful and your room looks really nice. No huge spiders or anything :)I hope that your teaching goes well. I miss you and am praying for you!
Very, very beautiful area you are in. I had a friend in college who was from Mbingo. He was the nicest guy. You will have some amazing experiences and will meet God in some fun places while there so become a sponge and soak it all in. Your room looks nice--I think that's even a pink bedspread so Jadyn would be thrilled to be there with you if it's pink! Can't wait to hear about more and if you survived the Duoala airport, you conquered one of the harder parts of your journey
